There are many different kinds of adhesives on the market. Here are a few of our favorites:

Hot Melt Caulk - So far, this adhesive has only been located at Sears. You'll need to buy their Craftsman E-Z Fix Home Repair Kit. Basically, it's a hot glue gun but since the caulk sticks are oval and glue gun holes are round, the sticks won't fit into a regular glue gun. The caulk also has a higher melting point and is one of two adhesives we've found that will stick to the vinyl that Don Post used.

The kit comes with the glue gun, 4 different formulas of glue sticks (the caulk sticks are Formula 400), several different nozzles to get the proper flow of adhesive and an attractive carrying case! This product is definately worth the $30 price tag. This "glue" has a fair amount of weight to it so it can be used as filler to make hollow props heavier.

ABS Glue - This can be found in the plumbing department of your local hardware store. The glue was intended for use on PVC plumbing pipes, so the dauber that is included under the cap is rather large and clumsy. If you are doing fine work, you may want to use an artist's paint brush to apply the glue. ABS glue works very well with

Super Glue - This adhesive will bond almost anything and it has practically no weight. If you use Super Glue in a mask, the fumes will probably irritate your eyes and make breathing difficult. Super Glue has a chemical reaction during the curing process and it releases vapors that can turn your piece white. Placing the glued pieces in front of a fan immediately after gluing can help aleviate this problem.

5 Minute Epoxy - This 2 part epoxy is easy to use but it tends to let go if it gets too hot. Use caution when dealing with this product. Do not keep the glued pieces in a hot car.

Hot Glue - This product is very similar to Hot Melt Caulk but it's much easier to find. There are two different kinds: Low Temperature and High Temperature. High Temperature will probably be best for costuming since your body gives off a lot of heat and that heat can actually make low temperature glue return to its liquid form.
