Real Fett Armor

Boba Fett Armor

There are 3 ways to attach the armor to the vest.

The best way is to attach the armor to the vest is with screws or bolts. Use superglue to attach flat headed screws to the back of the armor. Paint the ends of the screws with brush paint, slip on the vest and have someone press the armor plate against the vest while the paint on the screws is still wet. This will show you where to make the holes in the vest.

To cut the holes, use a hobby knife. Run the bolts through the holes and secure it on the inside of the vest with a nut that fits the bolt.

Velcro will allow you to remove the armor and wash the vest. It will make the armor stand out a little, but no one will be able to tell unless they're looking for it. Get some industrial strength velcro (found in the fabric section of Wal-Mart) and use Hot Melt Caulk to glue the soft half of the velcro to the vest.

You can also glue the armor directly to the vest. If you do this, put on the vest and have someone else apply the glue and armor while you are wearing it. Having your body shape in the vest while glueing the armor to it makes a big difference.

Don't paint the back of the armor! Just lightly sand the back side so the glue will have something to hold on to. When you paint the back, the glue sticks to the paint, not the plastic.

For the two black lines on the left chest plate, cut two rectangles in the left chest plate, both about two and a half inches long on top of each other. Make the bottom one a little deeper. The best way to do this is to use a razor blade and "score" the design into the back side of the armor. Then, cut out a piece of the left over visor or you can use anything that is black. Use a heat gun to warm the plastic until it is soft. Place the piece on the backside of the chest armor, covering your rectangles. Use super glue to set the pieces in place, and then Hot Melt Caulk to make the edges nice and smooth.

Make your "scorch marks" large enough so they will show up from a distance, or on film. Most of scars have another color outlining them. In the picture to the right, you can see yellow surrounding the silver. See the Basic Hobby Tips for a great technique for weathering.

Real Fett Collar

The Collar

The best thing to use for the four "knobs' on Fett's collar are rubber furniture stops. They can be found at the hardware store and they have an adhesive backing. Paint them with a few coats of primer grey and glue them on the back end of the collar armor.
