Preparing the rocket - "Drill & Pin"

The rocket assembly comes in three pieces. To ensure these pieces stay together, you'll need to use a "drill and pin" method instead of just glue.

Begin with the base and middle assembly. After proper hole filling and sanding, insert the base and middle section of the missle together. Drill four holes around the bottom, spaced evenly apart, run some glue on the inside of each hole and insert a metal pin. The pin is the dark circle towards the bottom of the picture to the right.

Tap the pin in a little further so the pin is not flush with the outside of the missile to form a "hollow". Fill this hollow with glue.

After assembling the bottom and middle sections, drill a hole in the bottom of the rocket top, and insert your pin. Drill a hole the same size in the top of the middle assembly, fill with the hole with glue, and put the two pieces together.

Putting the rocket in the PVC

The resin rocket is designed to sit in a large PVC pipe (or core). This assembly is too heavy for straight glue, so you'll need to use the "drill and pin" method again.

With a permanent marker, mark eight evenly spaced x's on the outside of the PVC core (known as core from here on out). Stand the core upright and insert the rocket assembly. Drill one hole through one of the x's and into the rocket and insert your pin. Turn the core/rocket and repeat this process for all eight pins.

Above and to the center, you'll see an interior view of the PVC core, pins and resin rocket. Fill the space in the middle with glue to help keep these pins in place.
