Barrel Extension - Hardware Version This barrel extension was made from a 1˝” chrome plumbing tube found in the plumbing section of a hardware store. Make this piece about 5˝" long.
|
| The oval shaped holes were bored out with a Dremel, as well as the other miscellaneous holes in the Heiland flashgun. Wrap some electrical tape around the plumbing tube until its thick enough to match the inside diameter of the barrel. The leftover piece of plumbing tube will be needed later to go inside the barrel, so be sure to keep it. |

Scope Mounts The square pieces in the center there are made from pieces of 1” square metal tubing that are 1-5/8” long.

The pieces the scope mounts are attached to are pieces of ˝” square keystock cut to the same length of the square tubing. The grooves that the scope mounts fit into were cut into the keystock with a die grinder but a Dremel or a hacksaw blade would probably achieve the same results. The allen-head bolts on either side of the scope mounts are phonies. The heads were removed from some small allen-head bolts and they were glued on the scope mounts. The wood blocks on both sides of the square tubing are pieces of 1˝” wood trim that are the same length as the tubing. |
| The flat ends of the square tubing were achieved with some pieces of thin aluminum flashing that were cut to the same diameter as the square tubing. The “ears” on the endpieces that folded behind the wood blocks, and that’s what holds them in place. Those pieces that have two vertical holes and come out a little, can be made out of cardboard, aluminum flashing, etc., and have the same “ears” that the flat pieces have. |

The Barrel The barrel was made from a piece of grey underground 1˝” PVC pipe that is about 8” long. The “clamps” that look like they’re holding the scope mounts on are phonies. The scope mounts are bolted on vertically through the barrel. You can use whatever you want to make the clamps, even strips of thin cardboard will work. Just glue them on. |
