BOOKS
and other References
SW Reference Books for costumes
and props.
I have most of the available
SW books that have good shots of props and costumes. Here are
my favorites with descriptions:
- Star Wars Chronicles:
Excellent for costumes, creatures and models, reasonably good
for props (not nearly as many pictures of props)
- Star Wars Visual Dictionary:
Excellent pictures of costumes and props but many are replicas
and there are some props that never existed in the movies but
are interesting. There are now 3 different books in this series.
- LucasFilm Archives:
Very good shots of the actual props and costumes. Not everything
is covered though.
- The Magic of Myth:
More good shots of the actual costumes and props.
- Action Figure Archive:
Some really need behind the scenes shots of costumes and props.
- Star Wars Scrapbook:
Has some pretty cool shots of characters and props not seen anywhere
else. Out of print most likely.
- Magazines:
I also have lots of old magazines and other SW publications from
over the years. I find sometimes they have pictures of things
not seen anwhere else. The Art of Star Wars series is good too
as they have lots of really nice production drawings and paintings.
If you really want to have a good set of resources you should
just start collecting all the books you can get since they all
have their own strengths and weaknesses.
