Jawa Mannequin

The mannequin pictured to the right was made by using the instructions found at the How To Make Your Own Jawa website. Only a few modifications were made, most noticably in the feet area. This change was made after this picture was taken.

The biceps were shortened a little and so were the forearms. Other than that, this mannequin is almost identical to the one shown on the other website.

The bulk of the mannequin was constructed of 3/4" PVC and it is covered with pipe wraps to help give it a little more bulk.

Instead of gluing all the pieces together or leaving the arm joints unsecured, try the drill and pin method.

Begin by drilling two holes in your "L" bracket. Router out a path with a rotary took to make a slit as seen to the left. Drill a hole in the straight piece that is the same size as your pin.

Put the two PVC pieces together, insert your pin through the slit and into the hole. Make sure the pin does not go all the way through! Apply a small amount of super glue to the pin and keep rotating the joint until the glue sets.

The end result will be a joint that is as secure as gluing it together but still allows the mannequin to be posable.

This technique works well for the shoulders, forearms and hands. The image below shows how the mannequin can move with the new joints.
