Obi-Wan's Costume Banner

Jawa Cloak

Since the Ralph Lauren blanket is 100% cotton, it will absorb the dye easily.

Begin by buying RIT dye, which is available at Wal-Mart (near the detergants) or at a fabric store. In the example to the right, two bottles of Dark Brown and one box of Sunshine Orange were used. Liquid dye is preferable because you don't have to worry about the powder dissolving in the water.

The robes appear different colors depending on the lighting. In some scenes, the robes appear to be dark brown while other times, they seem to be a brownish/orangish color. There is even a possiblity that robes that were made in different batches are different colors. Make your robe the color you prefer.

Be sure to follow the instructions on the label. We recommend using the washing machine method as opposed to the bucket or stove top methods.

The fabric can be dyed before or after it has been cut, whichever you prefer.
