Princess Leia - ANH Dress 5-6 oz leather (undyed) - You can get this at Tandy Leather, or any local leather shop if you have one near you. Be sure you get a piece that is long enough for your purpose. We don't recommend buying belt blanks from Tandy as the shape of the belt comes down to a V, which requires about 4-5" in width to accomodate. Aluminum sheet metal (1/16" thick) - You can get this in small packages at your local hobby shop or hardware store. 1" silver/nickel button blanks - These can be purchased at a fabric or craft store and they're kept with the racks of regular buttons. You will need 7 buttons in total. 4 sets of large white 4-piece snaps - These are also found at the fabric store or in the fabric section of Wal-Mart. Get a couple of extra sets in case you make a mistake when setting the snaps. White leather paint - You can find this at shoe repair places. This is used to paint the belt. Contact cement - You can get this at hardware stores. You will use this to attach the metal pieces to the belt. This cement works by brushing it on both surfaces to be bonded. You let it dry for about 15 minutes and then carefully press both pieces together. Once they've been pressed together, it should form a permanent bond. |
