Cleaning the Graflex Begin by separating the top and bottom half from the clamp. Turn the center lever towards the middle. Then, place your left hand on the top half and your right on the bottom. Turn your right hand clockwise and gently pull down. Turn your left hand counter clock wise and pull up. If the top half doesn't turn, look for a small screw that connects the clamp to the top half of the tube and remove it.
Once you have the halves open, find and remove the spring inside the bottom half with a pair of long nose pliers. |
| While all three components are separated, use a general purpose cleaner and a metal polish to help remove any stains. You can also wad up a piece of aluminum foil and rub it gently over the surface. This will also help remove stains and it will actually polish the metal plating! |

Prepare the Graflex On the top half, locate the red button. Then, flip the half upside down and look at the other side. There should be a piece here that appears to be glass. It is called the glass eye. If you have a cable coming out of this side, instead of the glass eye, you'll want to remove it. Unscrew the housing by twisting it counter clockwise. After it comes loose, twist the wires. This will eventually stress the wiring enough for them to break and you can pull them out. After the wires come out, screw the housing back in place. You can order a replica glass eye from Blast-Tech.
