Han Solo Pants (ANH) Grab a pair of blue Dickies work pants, sew up the pockets in the front, then iron creases in the front. You can sew the edges of the creases so that they stay creased. If the work pants aren't dark enough you may need to dye them Navy Blue. (also remember to take the Dickies logo off the back pocket). For the Coreillian Blood Stripes, take two lengths of Navy Blue hem facing (find it at any fabric store) and cut it so it is Take crimson red bias tape (also found at your local fabric store) and cut it into 1" x 1/4" strips. Cut enough so that there is 1/8" spacing between strips when it is placed on the hem facing for the entire length of the facing. The width of the strips of fabric the blood lines are on is 1 1/4".

Note: The actual width of the strip of fabric should be 2 1/2". Sew the lines down the center of the strip and then sew the ends of the strip together and then iron the piece down so you get a 1 1/4" wide piece of fabric, then sew this to the side of the pant leg. Be sure and use "quilting" thread and a "quilting" needle with your sewing machine. Note: These are the measurements for the ROTJ pants. The ANH pants (and probably the ESB) have shorter stripes (lengthwise) and they are probably 7/8". This would only work if your a size 32. If you're a size 36, then 1" will work. Since Ford gained about 20 pounds between ESB and ROTJ, the pants changed size. |
