Begin by drilling holes in the face mask where the black "teeth" will be. Once that is done, use a rotary tool to enlarge the holes and give them a basic rectangular shape. Then, use a flat file to even out the sides and corners.

Next, mask off the area to be painted. Notice that electrical tape was used instead of masking tape. Spray paint can seep through masking tape and get on to piece you're trying to protect.
